Behold All Things New!

Behold All Things New!

Blog
As 2019 begins, we often look back at what have been our experiences over the last year, some for good and some “not so much”. We also look forward in anticipation of what might be our future in the coming year. As you contemplate the future, it is encouraging to see that Jesus has already given us some great insights on thriving in this New Year. Revelation 21:5 says “And he who was seated on the throne said, ‘Behold, I am making all things new.’ Also he said, ‘Write this down, for these words are trustworthy and true.’” Notice what Jesus said in the bold print of this quote, He is the one who has power to make all things new. What a rich and precious promise for those who determine to follow Jesus - our year, our month, our day, and every moment can be saturated with this awesome…od and some “not so much”. We also look forward in anticipation of what might be our future in the coming year. As you contemplate the future, it is encouraging to see that Jesus has already […]

Senior Saints Christmas Luncheon

Senior Saints Christmas Luncheon

Blog
We wish you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year Laughter rang out as the children sang “Bring us some figgy pudding” in this traditional song, as a group of over 50 Senior Saints enjoyed a shared time of food, fun and festive friendship. The second annual event was a wonderful time of giving and receiving. A delicious meal, including oven roasted pork tenderloin, salad, green beans, garlic mashed potatoes, and whole grain rolls, was provided. Of course, the meal was finished off with coffee or chai tea, and a choice of sweet treats such as pumpkin pie, cream-filled cake, baklava and fruit-filled gelatin desserts. This season is jam-packed with similar social events, however, this gathering reminds us that Jesus, the name on many lips at Christmas time, teaches us to be givers and servants. Those who lovingly prepared, served, sang, and cleaned up after the event were acting…s some figgy pudding” in this traditional song, as a group of over 50 Senior Saints enjoyed a shared time of food, fun and festive friendship. Give Thanks to Our God

Give Thanks to Our God

Oh, give thanks to the LORD! Call upon His name; Make known His deeds among the peoples! Oh, give thanks to the LORD, for He is good! For His mercy endures forever.” (1 Chronicles 16:8,34) Just as the first pilgrims gathered to give thanks to God for the blessings of the harvest so long ago, this Thursday most Americans will gather around tables loaded with roasted meats, fall vegetables, crusty rolls, and sweets beyond measure.  Truly, the bounty of this rich nation has enabled it's citizens to flourish! In fact, flourishing is an extreme understatement when the wealth of physical blessings we Americans enjoy are compared with most other people in the world.   Yet in the Biblical view, flourishing is much broader than just the physical, rather our heavenly Father is interested in our heart, mind, soul and strength. He delights in those who commit their whole selves to…anks to the LORD, for He is good! For His mercy endures forever.” (1 Chronicles 16:8,34) Just as the first pilgrims gathered to give thanks to God for the blessings of the harvest so long ago, […]

Camp Ivydale Dinner and Pie Auction Fundraiser

Camp Ivydale Dinner and Pie Auction Fundraiser

Blog
Sounds of laughter, the smell of delicious food, festive decorations and the voice of an auctioneer saying “Do I hear….sold for $275! That's a pretty nice price for a pie.  And there were a great many fabulous pies auctioned off in the annual Camp Ivydale Dinner and Pie auction held at Linder Road on November 10th. This event was orchestrated and well attended by members from a number of local congregations of the Lord's church that share in the use, maintenance and upkeep of the beautiful Ivydale campsite and buildings located near Idaho City.  Pie donations were generous in number, and ranged from simple, luscious treats to elaborately themed pieces of art. Regardless of the style, each donated pie was a reminder of the real focus of the event, which is to be good stewards of the gift of Camp Ivydale and to use it as a resource for growing…saying “Do I hear….sold for $275! 17th Annual Spiritual Growth Lectureship Linder Road’s Spiritual lectureship started Thursday, October 11th and continues with sessions on Friday, Saturday and Sunday with a theme of “Restore My Soul”. This annual event is such a great time for all who attend the various sessions held over the weekend.  Childcare is provided and the breaks include lots of snacks, juice, coffee and time to connect with one another. And, the lessons provided truly nourish our souls. The sessions this year began with an encouraging Keynote entitled “Keeping Your Eye On The Ball”.   The lesson covered 1 Corinthians 9:24-27, where Paul, the Apostle uses examples from sports and competitions to teach us about staying focused on our spiritual goals. From this lesson, we learned four incentives to help us in the race. First, we are in the race to win it (Hebrews 12:1-3).  Second, we need to be self- controlled in order…ober 11th and continues with sessions on Friday, Saturday and Sunday with a theme of “Restore My Soul”.
