Restore My Soul

17th Annual Spiritual Growth Lectureship

Linder Road’s Spiritual lectureship started Thursday, October 11th and continues with sessions on Friday, Saturday and Sunday with a theme of “Restore My Soul”. This annual event is such a great time for all who attend the various sessions held over the weekend.  Childcare is provided and the breaks include lots of snacks, juice, coffee and time to connect with one another. And, the lessons provided truly nourish our souls.

The sessions this year began with an encouraging Keynote entitled “Keeping Your Eye On The Ball”.   The lesson covered 1 Corinthians 9:24-27, where Paul, the Apostle uses examples from sports and competitions to teach us about staying focused on our spiritual goals. From this lesson, we learned four incentives to help us in the race. First, we are in the race to win it (Hebrews 12:1-3).  Second, we need to be self- controlled in order to gain our imperishable crown (1 Corinthians 15:50-54).  Third, we need to be purposeful and not lose our focus (2 Peter 3:10-13). And fourth, we need to be disciplined so we are not disqualified (Romans 8:6-8).

This lectureship will be a great time for renewal, refreshment and restoring our zeal.  We love to have company, so we invite you to come join us for a lesson, a coffee and a snack for your body and most importantly, your soul!

“Remember that in a race everyone runs, but only one person gets the prize.  You also must run in such a way that you will win. All athletes practice strict self-control.  They do it to win a prize that will fade away, but we do it for an eternal prize. So I run straight to the goal with purpose in every step.  I am not like a boxer who misses his punches. I discipline my body like an athlete, training it to do what it should. Otherwise, I fear that after preaching to others I myself might be disqualified.  1 Corinthians 9:24-27 NLT
