Called Out — Life of Moses

”Now Moses was keeping the flock of his father-in-law, Jethro, the priest of Midian, and he led his flock to the west side of the wilderness and came to Horeb, the mountain of God. And the angel of the Lord appeared to him in a flame of fire out of the midst of a bush…God called to him out of the bush, “Moses, Moses!” And he said, “Here I am.” Then he said, “Do not come near; take your sandals off your feet, for the place on which you are standing is holy ground.” And he said, “I am the God of your father, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob.” And Moses hid his face, for he was afraid to look at God…Come, I will send you to Pharaoh that you may bring my people, the children of Israel, out of Egypt.” (‭‭Exodus‬ ‭3‬:‭1‬-‭6‬, ‭10‬)

Leadership Training for Christ (LTCNW), an annual event, was held for the northwest region in Richland, Washington this year on April 19 – 21. 32 of our children, plus family members and other volunteers from Linder traveled there to attend the convention. They joined with participants from 14 other congregations from across the northwest, forming a group of approximately 200 children from 3rd to 12th grade, who participated in 15 different events, such as Puppetry, Bible reading, Bible bowl, Chorus, Christian art, Christian drama, Speech, Signing, etc. The Life of Moses was the topic for this year’s convention, with the theme being “Called Out.”

After months of preparation, studying sections of Exodus and Numbers, working on developing speaking, writing, acting, and singing skills, all of the participants had opportunities to use those skills during the weekend convention.

It was so encouraging to see all the youngsters who had invested so much of their time in studying God’s word and learning new skills, use them in the various events to honor God.  The convention is not about winning a competition (even though recognition awards are given), rather the emphasis is on shaping Christian character for God’s service while sharing in joyful fellowship.

At Linder, we are intentionally and purposefully trying to cultivate the fertile soil of our children’s hearts and minds for Christ.  LTCNW is one way we are doing this. Â
