JULY – EVANGELISM

This month our practices will be broken down into three parts: a daily practice, a weekly reading with reflection questions, and a challenge for the month.

Daily Practice:

Start every morning and end every evening with a prayer. Begin your day by praying God will provide opportunities for you to share the gospel today. End your day by reflecting on the interactions you had with people and pray that God continues to transform you into Christ’s image.

Weekly Readings:

Week 1 (July 6-12)

John 9:1-34

  • The formerly blind man told the Sanhedrin how Jesus transformed his life. Have you ever shared how Jesus transformed your life with a non-Christian? Why or why not?
  • Write down your faith story, i.e., how you came to Christ, what impact that has had on your life, how your relationship with Jesus has helped you in a time of trial, etc.

Week 2 (July 13-19)

Matthew 28:16-20; Mark 16:14-18; Acts 2:6-8

  • What is your view of evangelism? Do you feel a personal call to this? Why or why not?
  • What must we do to recover the biblical call to share the good news of the Kingdom with the world including our neighborhoods and workplaces?

Week 3 (July 20-26)

1 Peter 2:9-12; 2 Corinthians 2:14-17

  • Do the non-Christians you interact with on a daily basis know you are a Christian? Why or why not?
  • What do you need to change in your life to become a sweet aroma attracting others to Christ?

Week 4 (July 27-Aug 2)

Colossians 4:2-6; Ephesians 4:25-32

  • In the past has your speech been “seasoned with salt” toward non-Christians? Why or why not?
  • When discussing spiritual matters with non-Christians, are you able to control your emotions? Why or why not?
  • Can the non-Christians you interact with each day tell from your speech that you are a Christian? Why or why not? Monthly Challenge: Share how your relationship with Jesus has impacted your life with a non-Christian friend, co-worker, or neighbor.

Going Deeper:

  • Ask the questions from our January practices for each passage.
  • Meditate on each passage being open to how you can share the gospel with those you interact with day by day (May’s Practices).
  • Reflect on what habits you should start that will help you share the gospel more readily.
