It is the beautiful time of year when spring is bursting forth all around us, and we start to think about what seeds shall we plant, so that we might have an abundant harvest later on in the year.  Just as we look to the physical soil to plant and grow things, it’s even more important for us to look at our spiritual planting and harvesting. We will reap what we sow in all of these planting endeavors.
“He who supplies seed to the sower and bread for food will supply and multiply your seed for sowing and increase the harvest of your righteousness.†2 Corinthians‬ â€9:6‬ â€
Children’s hearts and minds are fertile soil that we, as Christian parents and teachers, need to diligently and purposefully attend to in order to reap a harvest of spiritual maturity and moral excellence in our families.
And Isaac sowed in that land and reaped in the same year a hundredfold. The Lord blessed him,â€.  Genesis‬ â€26:12‬
This last weekend of April 2019, a number of our children and family members traveled to Richland, Washington to attend the Leadership Training for Christ convention, where 150+ children from 3rd to 12th graders participated in many different events, including Puppet theater, Bible readers theater, Bible bowl, Chorus, Christian art, Christian drama, etc. The book of John was the section of scripture that the children focused on for the conference, which was themed from John 15:13:
“Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one’s life for one’s friends.â€
â€
After months of preparation, delving into the word of God, and really learning the book of John, we all reaped some of the early harvest of this time spent letting God’s word transform our hearts and minds. What a great investment, not only for the weekend, but also for a longer term harvest in all our lives.
“Do you not say, ‘There are yet four months, then comes the harvest’? Look, I tell you, lift up your eyes, and see that the fields are white for harvest. Already the one who reaps is receiving wages and gathering fruit for eternal life, so that sower and reaper may rejoice together.† John‬ â€4:35-36‬ â€
It was wonderful to see all these young hearts and minds investing time, learning new skills and presenting them in various events.  However, the convention was not about competition, but rather the emphasis was placed on allowing God‘s word to transform us, no matter where we are or what our talents might be.
“The point is this: whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows bountifully will also reap bountifully.† 2 Corinthians‬ â€9:6‬ â€In the springtime of this year, our prayer is that you will be planting abundant seeds for an eternally important harvest.  We invite you to Come and See the harvest Jesus has in mind for your life!
