Oh, give thanks to the LORD! Call upon His name; Make known His deeds among the peoples! Oh, give thanks to the LORD, for He is good! For His mercy endures forever.” (1 Chronicles 16:8,34) Just as the first pilgrims gathered to give thanks to God for the blessings of the harvest so long ago, this Thursday most Americans will gather around tables loaded with roasted meats, fall vegetables, crusty rolls, and sweets beyond measure.  Truly, the bounty of this rich nation has enabled it's citizens to flourish! In fact, flourishing is an extreme understatement when the wealth of physical blessings we Americans enjoy are compared with most other people in the world.   Yet in the Biblical view, flourishing is much broader than just the physical, rather our heavenly…

Camp Ivydale Dinner and Pie Auction Fundraiser

Sounds of laughter, the smell of delicious food, festive decorations and the voice of an auctioneer saying “Do I hear….sold for $275! That's a pretty nice price for a pie.  And there were a great many fabulous pies auctioned off in the annual Camp Ivydale Dinner and Pie auction held at Linder Road on November 10th. This event was orchestrated and well attended by members from a number of local congregations of the Lord's church that share in the use, maintenance and upkeep of the beautiful Ivydale campsite and buildings located near Idaho City.  Pie donations were generous in number, and ranged from simple, luscious treats to elaborately themed pieces of art. Regardless of the style, each donated pie was a reminder of the real focus of the event, which…

17th Annual Spiritual Growth Lectureship Linder Road’s Spiritual lectureship started Thursday, October 11th and continues with sessions on Friday, Saturday and Sunday with a theme of “Restore My Soul”. This annual event is such a great time for all who attend the various sessions held over the weekend.  Childcare is provided and the breaks include lots of snacks, juice, coffee and time to connect with one another. And, the lessons provided truly nourish our souls. The sessions this year began with an encouraging Keynote entitled “Keeping Your Eye On The Ball”.   The lesson covered 1 Corinthians 9:24-27, where Paul, the Apostle uses examples from sports and competitions to teach us about staying focused on our spiritual goals. From this lesson, we learned four incentives to help us in the race.…

Walk the Talk

Walk the Talk

October in the Treasure Valley can be beautiful yet unpredictable and Saturday, October 6th was no exception as members of the “Young at Heart” group enjoyed a lovely morning walk about the neighborhood south of the Linder church building, and then shared a delicious brunch together. The weather was cool and cloudy with a hint of possible rain, but still comfortable for walking.  The group included some young ones in age as well as “Young at Heart” seniors who chatted and strolled together. It was a way to connect together across the different ages represented while enjoying the fresh air, gentle exercise and stepping over (or in) a few puddles here and there with the little ones. The fellowship hall was decorated in a harvest time theme for the brunch…

Annual Friends Day

Annual Friends Day

Blog
What do S’mores, friends, casseroles, and singing have in common?  Answer: all these were part of the activities on September 23rd during Linder Road’s 21st Annual Friends’ Day.  Members invited friends and family to join in a day of worship and fellowship, including a potluck lunch provided by the members, and an evening fireside devotional service followed by S'mores and social time to connect to one another in the open air. The annual event is one way the Linder Road church reaches out to those we know and invites them to come and see more about Jesus and his way.  (Revelation 22:17 “The Spirit and the Bride say, “Come”. Let anyone who hears this say, “Come”. Let anyone who is thirsty come. Let anyone who desires drink freely from the…
