Request Prayer

Blog, church, Faith
During the COVID-19 pandemic, there is so much uncertainty in the world. As Christians, we turn to God in times of fear and uncertainty as we do in times of joy and celebration. We pray for God’s heart of love, mercy, and truth to dwell in us and show us how to face the challenges posed by our lives. Your elders want to ensure that they are made aware of your prayer requests so that they may lift those requests up to God on your behalf.  Please submit your requests to us via the following link. COVID-19 Update from Elders

Dear Linder Road Family, In light of yesterday's announcement by Idaho's Governor that the state now has a confirmed case of Coronavirus, we feel it necessary to implement proactive procedures.  Please know that we love you and are prayerfully considering how best to respond to the current health crisis which puts many of our number at serious risk.  We strive both to keep God's will while obeying the decrees of our public officials and attempting to keep the members of our spiritual family safe.  First and foremost, we want you to know that we value both your life and your soul.  We pray that you will have patience with us and know that decisions we are making are intended to be temporary.  We recognize that some may feel that the reactions seem extreme, but we and our public officials hope that these measures will help prevent overburdening our healthcare system as…that the state now has a confirmed case of Coronavirus, we feel it necessary to implement proactive procedures.  Please know that we love you and are prayerfully considering how best to respond to the current health crisis which puts many of our number […]

Lift the Ceiling!

Lift the Ceiling!

On Wednesday’s (2/26) Wheel of Fortune episode, venerated host Pat Sajak made an unacceptable blunder — especially in the age of Twitter! As he was celebrating a contestant’s $10,000+ winnings, he lifted his palms over his head and exclaimed, “Lift the ceiling!” This wouldn’t be so bad…if it weren’t for the fact that the idiom is “Raise the roof!” Needless to say, Sajak was the victim of several posts and memes poking fun at his mistake. Have you ever said something incorrectly? I mean, trying to say the right thing and it just comes out all wrong? I know I have — countless times! Wanting to express appreciation for someone’s effort, my comment comes out as “Well, at least you tried.” Or, trying to let a friend know I’ve seen them weather a challenge well, I say, “Looks like your troubles are over!” Neither of those seems all that bad; but what if the…table blunder — especially in the age of Twitter! “Listen, O Israel! The Lord is our God, the Lord alone. And you must love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul, and all your strength. And you must commit yourselves wholeheartedly to these commands that I am giving you today. Repeat them again and again to your children. Talk about them when you are at home and when you are on the road, when you are going to bed and when you are getting up. Tie them to your hands and wear them on your forehead as reminders. Write them on the doorposts of your house and on your gates.”  Deuteronomy‬ ‭6:4-9‬ ‭ What is your favorite brand?  In America, it seems we are fascinated by and drawn to this idea of branding. From clothing lines, to sporting teams and equipment, to cars, to anything and everything, we are a people who seek the most desired brands in…ll your heart, all your soul, and all your strength. I know it’s February. It’s not exactly the time, for most of us, to be thinking about longer days and how to spend them. (But I think about it anyway!) Do we stay around town or do we get away somewhere? Do we want a full-fledged vacation, or do we just need a break? I believe the idea of “just needing a break” resonates with many, if not all, of us. I think we all occasionally long for a time to just be off…to relax and think and reflect. I’ve been reading lately about being mindful and how to create good habits. But, without time to sit and think about where I am and where I’m going, it’s all kind of just busy work! This all makes me think about Jesus getting away. Scripture records instances when Jesus just needed to take a break. But we see it wasn’t selfish…s and how to spend them. (But I think about it anyway!) Do we stay around town or do we get away somewhere? Do we want a full-fledged vacation, or do we just need a break? I […]
