“The Ninth Day of August It was the ninth day of August.  My Dad could not remember the exact year, only that it was before 1953 – the year that he graduated from high school.  But the day and the month have been etched in his memory for a long time.  Dad recounted the events of that difficult day to the Wednesday morning Bible class yesterday, which was also his 89th birthday. Dad’s Dad was a cotton farmer in West Texas.  For those familiar with the dry climate of West Texas, growing anything on a farm out there can be challenging.  Farming was and is a difficult way of life.  My Dad said that his father would borrow money every year to make it through the growing season.  Then when the cotton…

“Go tell it on the mountain, over the hills and everywhere, go tell it on the mountain, that Jesus Christ is born!“ The words of this familiar Christmas Carol, which tell of events surrounding Jesus’ birth, rang out in song, as a group of about 60 senior saints enjoyed a time of fellowship together, Saturday, December 9, 2023.   Lively conversation, laughter, a gift exchange, and lots of love were on the menu, which also included savory oven-baked chicken, potatoes, green beans, and a variety of delicious desserts, prepared to honor these dearly loved seniors. Theme: Courage to say something. 2023 Lectureship was held between October 12 to 15th. Hawatthia and the Benitez family from Guatemala had hard time leaving country but were able to come to US thanks to the prayers given on behalf of their travels. However, Tim Lewis was ill and was not able to come this year. Hope he will be able to come next year.
