Pancakes and pajamas are a great way to start a Saturday morning!
And it’s especially nice when it’s a breakfast gathering with a bunch of the family. This is how we kicked off our new Kids Care Group at Linder Road. The idea of this group (for kids 6th grade and under) is to create an atmosphere with numerous opportunities for our children to connect and build positive, long term relationships with one another.
It may sound like an insignificant thing to get together in our pajamas, eat some pancakes, and play games together, however, the bonds that we are helping our children to build, as they relate to one another and share their lives together, are stronger than just a temporary relationship. Our intention is to help our children create eternal bonds of love with one another, so that as they grow and go out into the wider world, they will have many relationships that keep them connected in God’s family, sharing the blessings of being in Christ, and most of all, being faithful in their relationship with our Heavenly Father.
“They devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and to fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer…They broke bread in their homes and ate together with glad and sincere hearts,”. (Acts 2:42, 46)
In the family of God, one characteristic that sets us apart from the rest of the world is that we strive to build relationships that are based on strong blood ties, the blood of Jesus, which he shed at the cross so that we might be reconciled, first of all with his father, our God, and then to one another as we share our lives, not only now but into eternity.
“… His purpose was to create in himself one new humanity out of the two, thus making peace, and in one body to reconcile both of them to God through the cross, by which he put to death their hostility.” (Ephesians 2:15-16)
And the really good news about this family is that there’s always room for more children to join us, whether your a 6 year old or a 60 year old, we have a place for you to call home. We invite you to come and see for yourself that the Lord is good!
“Taste and see that the Lord is good; blessed is the one who takes refuge in him.” (Psalms 34:8)
