“In the beginning, the world was empty. Darkness was everywhere. But God had a plan.“
Granny’s voice trembled a bit as she began reading to the children gathered around her, the history of how everything was made by God. On this hot, summer day, it was the perfect time to be inside the cool clubhouse, listening to Granny reading stories and learning about God’s wonderful creation.
This happy scene is a verbal snapshot of our first Story Time outreach presented to the children at Northwest Point apartments in Boise. A group of Linder teens and adults put together the interactive time, which included a guest appearance by Granny (Hanne C.) as the storyteller, while the other team members asked questions and used props to emphasize the story details.
The agenda also included the group singing two Creation songs, with the accompanying actions, which were well received. At the conclusion of the event, the children were given take home activities about the Creation. In addition, each family group in attendance was given a copy of the Beginner’s Bible for Children, compliments of the Linder Road congregation.
The Story Time is intended as an ongoing outreach ministry to this community that houses a high percentage of refugees from various parts of the world, many who are struggling to rebuild their lives in the Treasure Valley. Our goal is to be the hands and feet of Jesus as we bring his light to the eyes of these children and their families.
“God saw all that He had made, and behold, it was very good. And there was evening and there was morning, the sixth day.†(â€â€Genesis‬ â€1:31‬)
