“You shall therefore lay up these words of mine in your heart and in your soul...You shall teach them to your children, talking of them when you are sitting in your house, and when you are walking by the way, and when you lie down, and when you rise.”  â€â€Deuteronomy‬ ‭11:18-19‬ ‭ Sunday, June 30th was a day of joyful celebration as the congregation at Linder worshiped together, and then shared in a time of food, fellowship, and friendly conversation to welcome our new Youth Minister, Jared McCormick, his wife Brittany and their children to Meridian and our church family. We are very thankful that they arrived safely, have begun the process of settling into their new home, and are beginning the work with our teens and their families.  God…

“If…then…” from the apostle Paul

“If…then…” from the apostle Paul

“So, if you have been raised with Christ, seek the things above, where Christ is…” That’s Colossians 3:1 in the CSB. What a statement! “Since you’ve been raised with Christ” recalls Romans 6:3-4: “Or are you unaware that all of us who were baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into his death? Therefore, we were buried with him by baptism into death, in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, so we too may walk in newness of life.” When you’re baptized, or immersed, into Christ, you’re raised to a new life. So, what should you do then – from then on?! Seek, or pursue, things above. When you’re in Christ, you are to chase after spiritual, Godly things…with all your heart – for the rest of…

The Wise Man built his house upon the Rock!

Vacation Bible School 2019 “The Wise Man built his house upon the Rock, the rains came tumbling down, and the house on the rock stood firm!” The words of this VBS song rang through the auditorium as over 50 kids sang the words and moved their hands in the actions of this song, based on one of Jesus’ teachings.  The theme of “Building a better life with Jesus’ at this year’s Vacation Bible School was reinforced by the LEGO themed decorations and crafts projects the children participated in during the event. Puppets and skits were used to teach lessons about kindness to others (John 4:1-42, Jesus and the Samaritan woman), Jesus’ power over fear, evil and disease (John 9, Healing the Blind man and  Mark 5:1-20, Curing the demon-possessed man),…

Happy Father’s Day

Happy Father’s Day

Blog
On the third Sunday of June, it is an American tradition to honor our fathers by setting aside the day to offer special thanks for everything they are, do, and give for us.   The nation’s first Father’s Day was celebrated on June 19, 1910, in the state of Washington.  Within a few years, it became a national tradition to celebrate Father’s Day. However, it was not until 1972 that the day honoring fathers became a nationwide holiday in the United States.   We are so thankful for our fathers, who sacrifice daily to provide physical, emotional, and spiritual guidance and support to their families.   Even more, we are all blessed when fathers look for guidance to the greatest example of fatherhood which is found in God himself, who has…
