Am I the only sane person left!? I am the only one in my family who hears and sees Yanny in a gold and white dress! Everyone else? Laurel in a blue and black dress! What is that!? (#TeamGoldAndWhiteDress) Well, the truth of it is, neither parties were crazy. The blue-dressers were no more or less crazy than the Yanny-hearers. The audio clip really explored cognitive tendencies in…

Now, approaching 110 years old, he was nearing his death. However, as the great leader he was, he addressed the people one final time. He knew he had to be firm, for their history was one of indecisiveness when it came to staying focused on their God. So, he told them plainly, “Put away the gods that have plagued you since the days of captivity. Serve Jehovah! Choose! Decide today and every day whom you serve and commit to that decision. As for me and my house, we will serve the Lord!” (Joshua 24:14-15).…

Epictetus was a powerful speaker who lived a simple, self-controlled life. He was, however, far from a religious man. In fact, like most Stoic philosophers, he believed all external events are simply determined by fate. But read that quote again. It sounds pretty biblical doesn’t it? Although Epictetus doesn’t give much context for how a man is to achieve this avoidance of error, he does insinuate it can happen, and that it is a noble effort of man…
