“If…then…” from the apostle Paul

“If…then…” from the apostle Paul

“So, if you have been raised with Christ, seek the things above, where Christ is…” That’s Colossians 3:1 in the CSB. What a statement! “Since you’ve been raised with Christ” recalls Romans 6:3-4: “Or are you unaware that all of us who were baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into his death? Therefore, we were buried with him by baptism into death, in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, so we too may walk in newness of life.” When you’re baptized, or immersed, into Christ, you’re raised to a new life. So, what should you do then – from then on?! Seek, or pursue, things above. When you’re in Christ, you are to chase after spiritual, Godly things…with all your heart – for the rest of…

The Wise Man built his house upon the Rock!

The Wise Man built his house upon the Rock!

Vacation Bible School 2019 “The Wise Man built his house upon the Rock, the rains came tumbling down, and the house on the rock stood firm!” The words of this VBS song rang through the auditorium as over 50 kids sang the words and moved their hands in the actions of this song, based on one of Jesus’ teachings.  The theme of “Building a better life with Jesus’ at this year’s Vacation Bible School was reinforced by the LEGO themed decorations and crafts projects the children participated in during the event. Puppets and skits were used to teach lessons about kindness to others (John 4:1-42, Jesus and the Samaritan woman), Jesus’ power over fear, evil and disease (John 9, Healing the Blind man and  Mark 5:1-20, Curing the demon-possessed man),…

Happy Father’s Day

Happy Father’s Day

Blog
On the third Sunday of June, it is an American tradition to honor our fathers by setting aside the day to offer special thanks for everything they are, do, and give for us.   The nation’s first Father’s Day was celebrated on June 19, 1910, in the state of Washington.  Within a few years, it became a national tradition to celebrate Father’s Day. However, it was not until 1972 that the day honoring fathers became a nationwide holiday in the United States.   We are so thankful for our fathers, who sacrifice daily to provide physical, emotional, and spiritual guidance and support to their families.   Even more, we are all blessed when fathers look for guidance to the greatest example of fatherhood which is found in God himself, who has…

We Remember

Blog
Memories are an integral part of the human experience, bringing with them moments in time that we string together into the pearl necklaces of our shared lives.   As people and cultures throughout history, we have used various tools and symbols to “remind us” of significant memories: Footprints of a newborn child saved on parchment, inked to invoke remembrance of the moment of birth, A crumpled paper holding our child’s first attempt to draw a flower, butterfly or person with the wobbly letters of their name written on this treasured art, A lock of hair, a dried flower, a jeweled ring, A carved stone bearing a loved one’s name. All of these objects are images we use to symbolize precious moments in time we intentionally remember. In America, we set aside…
