"Keep your heart with all vigilance, for from it flow the springs of life." (‭‭Proverbs‬ ‭4:23‬ ) Valentine’s Day, like the blossoming of spring, is just around the corner.  Being remembered with a card, candy or flowers on this holiday of the heart, can uplift us and lighten the heart, especially when the gift is from a sweetheart or a child.  Lighthearted is defined as being free from care and anxiety, or being cheerfully optimistic and hopeful. I recently read an article about the importance of attending church services. It was on a “religious” website which, I assume, is read by “religious” people. Does that seem weird? Doesn’t it seem like those are the least likely people you’d have to remind of the importance of church attendance? Pancakes and pajamas are a great way to start a Saturday morning!  And it’s especially nice when it’s a breakfast gathering with a bunch of the family.  This is how we kicked off our new Kids Care Group at Linder Road. The idea of this group (for kids 6th grade and under) is to create an atmosphere with numerous opportunities for our children to connect and build positive, long term relationships with one another.   It may sound like an insignificant thing to get together in our pajamas, eat some pancakes, and play games together, however, the bonds that we are helping our children to build, as they relate to one another and share their lives together, are stronger than just a temporary relationship. New and Improved Have you ever been shopping in the grocery store and noticed a favorite item claiming to be “new and improved”?  Excited by the possibility of a better, healthier, tastier experience, you look at the package information and realize the only things that have changed are the outside of the package and the elevated price of the item.  The contents remain exactly the same. “So teach us to number our days that we may get a heart of wisdom.” (‭‭Psalms‬ ‭90:12‬) The New Year of 2020 is just a few days away and as 2019 draws to a close, our natural inclination is to review the memories and moments of influence we have created as our legacy over the past year.  Sometimes, the review process includes setting goals to achieve various successes in the coming year, and sometimes it may bring a degree of sorrow or regret to our hearts over the losses and mistakes behind us.
